Not much is known about the inception of the school except that it was purely for the British children till the year 1947 and from the year 1947 to 1958 for the Anglo Indians and there onwards a school for the Indian children.
Miss Lydia Acton and Miss Winnie Acton were the principal and vice principal of the school respectively. Today they are mortal remains bear silent witness to the dedicated efforts put in by them.
In the year 1958, Rev. A. V. Rubdi the parish priest of St. Mary's Church Belgaum restarted the school with barely 4 children and transferring a sum of Rs.1000.00 for the maintenance and salary of teachers from the church funds. The school was registered with the Charity Commissioner on 9th October 1959.
A lady Ms. S.B. Devshikamini (B.A. L.T) was brought from Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh to head the school along with two local teachers. Under her guidance and leadership with the motivation and the inspiration of Rev. A. V. Rubdi it grew into full fledge high school in the year 1966. Ms. Devshikamini went door to door to bring children. She went from person to person, shop to shop collecting funds for the school building. As the school was run only in a beautiful bungalow, many fancy fetes, one act plays, stage shows were held by her to raise funds.
The school got recognition from the Education Department in the year 1967, and the first batch of SSLC students passed out in the year 1969.
